Moving the seat around

Hi I'm planning on a fourteen foot strip canoe for solo trips as well as a dual paddler. Has anyone had any experience using the gunnel slots for moving the seats back and forth? I plan on building the seat for the forward position the same way. I can see a angle issue at the under side of the gunnel? Might have to build a couple different hangers.
