Graphite additive for epoxy

Canoecraft mentions the use of the West System epoxy graphite additive to provide additional protection for the hull. While I am reluctant to cover the beauty of the cedar since I plan to use my canoe for tripping, if with will provide a significant additional protection, I would consider it.

I would be interested in anybody else's experience with this. Can is be just added to the final epoxy coat on the bottom of the boat only? Does it add much to the weight of the boat?

I only add graphite to epoxy when I want to strengthen a joint and am gluing carbon fiber components. I wouldn't put it over the top of a nice wood/glass surface.

I hate to graphite the bottom of my hulls.

I have done it with a few. It does lessen scratching of the hull. It will also add a little speed. My fastest hulls are graphited .
Just don't leave them out in the hot Sun.

Do you add the graphite in the final epoxy coat or as an extra coat after the rest is done?

It also occurred to me (after I finished planking and admiring the bottom of my boat), it is likely something I can do after I scratch it up a bit...
