Wow... I guess we're a lot less stringent with regards to boat registrations here in Ontario. Only boats which are powered by a motor greater than 10hp. need to be registered, Canoes and such are exempt.

Sounds good, but let us know if you actually get it. It's out of print. That's why they're asking ridiculous $$$ for it.

Try going to Nauticalmind.com. They're in Toronto. They're selling Gilpatrick's book for $22CDN plus shipping and applicable taxes. A good price for a great book. They just e-mailed and said they don't have any copies left. I tried Amazon.... ????? over a hundred bucks for a used copy??? Methinks n...

I guess I should break down and pick up the latest version. Stapleless sounds like an interesting option.
Thanks guys.

Just wonderin' ....

My copy of CanoeCraft is from '93, so I'm wondering just how out of date it might be? Has much changed or been revised in the last 16 years? Hope not.
Thanks.

Shortened Prospector?

I have forms for the 16' version, but my son-in-law would like a shorter 12' version built. We still want to keep the same beam, but need to figure out whether we omit stations, or just shorten the distance between each station to end up with a 12 footer. All and any advise would be greatly apprecia...

Sona tube for steamin'?

Hi.
Has anyone considered, or possibly tried using an 8" diameter sona tube for steaming the stems? Just a thought cuz they're cheap, lightweight, easy to work with, and can be tossed when finished.
Thanks

Hey Greg. I plan on just the basics. I don't have that much coin for anything fancy. Just want to make sure I can get as much precision as possible with what I've got. Curious though. How did you set up those three blades on your table saw? Just three blades with 1/4"+ spacers? Very cool idea. ...

Well, I have the same bandsaw. I'm going to grab a 3/4" blade today and try it out on some scrap. Then I plan on making an oversized table. The boards I'm looking at have been dressed to just under 1 1/2" by just under 3 1/2" and are 20' long. So I'll need to see just how to get the m...

Bandsaw blades...

Thanks for all the input folks. I'll pick up a 3/4" blade and try out a setup next week. I'll let you know how it works for me.

I do indeed plan on using my bandsaw for the ripping. As I mentioned, they are 'heavily' dressed. They are not true 1 1/2" boards, so I'll probably rip a couple of 5/16" pieces along the 3+" side, then cut everything into strips. I do know this, that I don't want to end up with any st...

Strip dimensions???

Hi. Though I've been a paddler all my life, I've now the time to delve into the world of canoe building. I'm presently building the strongback back for either Bob's Special or a Prospector, but my concern is regarding the dimension of the hull material. I've come across a supply of WRC, but apparenl...
