Re: Paint strongback?
Ron I constructed my most recent strongback in the classic Ted Moores sytle. It is painted in a light cream color, some sort of latex, I believe. It was "mismatched" paint at Lowes and very cheap. I wrote copulos notes on the strongback as I went long... I was just handier to bend down or ...

Jim Also 18 inches is not like glassing a full length hull with a one piece cloth. Absolutely. But it will give you an idea of how to go about solving the problem. Put a lid on the contraption you get a wanigan... make it near the bow you can create a slide-in base to mount a mast in for sailing. Ho...

Re: Next Boat - Freedom 15'3" Solo perhaps...
I'm a little concerned though, about the tumblehome chine. What worries me is: a) does the chine introduce much complexity in stripping around it? I did a mock 18" segment of the tumblehome. I copied stations 4 and 5, cut the forms for those stations from ½” particle board , mounted them on a s...

I agree with Rick. I specialize in making mistakes. One of my ends had a large gap. I just used some filler and got on with the canoe making ... However, my canoes and kayaks are made to be functional, not furniture (I am envious of those who can... went to the BMB Rendezvous 2008 and was impressed ...

Re: Seat Mounting, In General..!
When mounting seats: ..... I understand that EVERYONE ( everyone I've seen so far ) seems to do it with the hanging block/bolt set up... but, does anyone else see a YELLOW / Caution flag go up when they see this..?? When I see any canoe with this set up, I immediately think; there has to be a bette...
