Yes david, I only used epoxy to attach gunwales. With epoxy the joint faillure will always be the wood never the epoxy. If it can hold the stem together I believe that it is fine for the gunnels. Glen, The two tone yoke is made with ash and black walnut. I simply glued a piece of black walnut under some ash using thickened epoxy. Each piece was 3/4 inch.
