Mike that's some good advice Dan has posted. I know I had paddled canoes many times but I was nervous about a kayak. Once I paddled one I found them very stable and a joy to paddle. I have got an 18 foot kayak so I took some lessons from a local outfitter most of it was pretty basic stuff but I did ...

Hey Dan, I was going though your pics and I am trying to figure out how your hatches work. I love the look and how you made those pieces by using a broom stick. I saw the pic with the straps attached but I did not see how they worked together. Do you have another pic with the hatches straped down? S...

It is still hard to say without knowing what hardener you are using. I will assume it is slow hardener. I the situation you are describing I would recommend trying to get some heat to at least get the temp above 60F. I will say I have done exactly what you what to do but it can lengthen the curing t...

It kind of depends on the hardener used. If you are using the slow hardener with moderate temps (75F) I would say 10 to 12 hours maybe 18hrs. If this is your first time applying epoxy you are liable to have some runs and sags that you may have to deal with in between coats. I know I had to, I even h...

Hi Steve, Greg is right but if I might add; I also use Raka I bought the pumps to measure the amounts. Mixing to large of a batch can actually cause the epoxy to set quicker before you get a chance to apply it. Something about it being in a small container causing the chemical reaction to speed up. ...

Thanks Dan, Tell me more!!! I was thinking of clear coat but one person had a problem with it when his boat was exposed to harsh weather for 2 months.I am really wanting to spray my finish but all I have is a regular automotive spray gun. Which should work but I hear a lot about the newer HVLP spray...
