Glassing schedule....
Forum, it's almost time to glass my Ranger and I'm wondering about timing. I'm set to leave on a trip this Thursday. The outside is almost ready for glass. But with work and trip preparation, I might not have time to clean up the inside enough for glass before I leave. Should I hold off on glassing ...

Small cans of West and problems...?
Hiya, Has anyone else had issues using small cans of West System Epoxy? I glued my some stems yesterday around ten in the morning, pressure, proper ratios, low 20s Celcius, dry wood stove heat, everything, and today, a full 24 hours later, the stems were still gooey and came apart once I unclamped (...

Okay, had a slow week of canoe work last week. Weather was too nice to work inside. I did manage to get all the forms cut out, and get the strongback ready for the forms. Yesterday I cut, steamed, and bent my stem laminates. White pine for the inside, cherry for the out. I almost cut them too short,...

Bassbug, The seat placement according to my plans are: stern seat is 34.5 inches from zero station to the rear of the stern seat. The bow seat is 43.5 from zero station, measured to it's rear. Is that what you need? The forms should be cut out today and I'll begin the set-up process. I was lucky eno...

Thanks, Ealger, good to know that someone has built this boat recently and can give me advice and feedback. I'll leave the plans as drawn, and not add in any extra material. The plans were ordered from Bear Mountain. I think I'll leave the working height alone for a while. I can always modify it onc...

First Canoe build: 15 Prospector...
Howdy y'all. This is the first post in my build thread. I built a stripper kayak last winter and have decided to try a canoe this time around. After much research and thinking, and going on the advice of the forum gurus, I chose the 15 Prospector Ranger. I built the table\bench on the weekend. I sti...

Thanks for all the responses so far. This must be a very active forum. Perfect. I guess part of my trouble is that I've never been in a canoe before. Ever. So I really have no idea what I like best in a boat. The uses of my boat will mainly be recreational: day trips, easy river running, and maybe s...

Hello Forum, My name is Nathan. I live in southern Ontario, south of Tillsonburg. I built a Nick Schade strip kayak last winter, a 14 foot Auk, and had so much fun with the project that I'm going to attempt a canoe this winter. I would like to try one of the Bear Mountain canoes. So... which one? I'...
