Thanks Sherm,

Marinepoxy is a new one for me. Products like West, East and Mas are the ones I've read about most often. Seems Mas is the most commonly carried by the Catalog companys.

Epoxy, Preferred products/recommended manufacture

I've read several threads lately about Epoxy to lay-up the fiberglass cover. Most seemed to be at lease months if not years old. It seem there is no clear preferred manufacture so I'll present my question in this manner. What manufacture do you use and what are the advantages of using "xxxx&quo...

Hello Greg, I see you are in Galesburg, MI. If you can drive to Ann Arbor, you will find a very large selection of exceptionally clear western red cedar boards at Fingerle Lumber. Ask to see their select grade lumber inside the warehouse. They have clear lengths up to 20 feet, but it is not cheap! ...

Thanks Gene, THe raw lumber is my consern as well. I'm OK with the machining process and would like to say when everything is finished "I did it all" but all things considered, if the quality of the hull could be better with purchased lumber I guess that is my goal. Was the international s...

Strips - Purchase or machine your own

The stations are built and the lines trued, now for the challange. Do I purchase my strips or mill my own? I have the equipment and can set up outside to minimize the dust in the house if I mill my own. I'm interested in your feedback about the quality of purchased strips from the boat suppliers vs....

Need help choosing a kayak design

Hello, I have many years of canoe experience and an interest is building a kayak for Michigan rivers and lakes. My concern is I'm 5' 10" tall and 220 lbs and have not found many products listed for a man my size. I'd like to find a design that I will enjoy but nor out grow in a few seasons. If ...

Thanks for the recomendations, I weigh 225 Lbs and figure on using my kayak for day trips. I like the design of the Endeavour but it sounds like I may need to watch how much cargo I load as well as loosing some weight if I want to do any overnights. Has anyone paddled both designs? I'd be interested...

Recomendations? Endeavour/Resolute

Hello, I'm ready to begin work on my second strip built and have decided to build a Kayak this time. I'm 200 + pounds 5'10" tall and frequent inland lakes and rivers in Michigan. I do make the accational trip to the big lake "Michigan" and enjoy fishing as well as camping which led me...
