Welcome to the new Bear Mountain Builders Forum - an interactive internet service we provide to encourage communication between canoe and kayak builders
Hi everyone, I epoxied the coaming in last night and this morning I sanded and put on the last fill coat for the deck. Tomorrow I will sand the deck and TAKE OUT THE FORMS!!!!!! Then comes the inside. I am getting closer. You might notice I have 2 heaters going in the shop, its 50F out this morning.
Very nice job. Is that a Redfish kayak? I'm working on a Parr right now, the weather is just starting to get warm enough to start working on it in the carport.
Very pretty boat Ron. I'm not much for kayaks but I've got to say you guys/gals that build them sure do fine work. Must be all that rolling you bunch like to do in them. It must stimulate the creative artistic side of the brain.
I'm very much looking forward to the launch photos.
Looking good Ron! I haven't been able to touch my Cape Ann in the last week, (sprained ankle). Hard to sand the deck with a long board on crutches. I will hopefully get back at it next week. Can' t wait to see yours finished!
Thanks Gary and Scott, I did get the forms pulled today and got a sealer coat inside the hull. As I suspected, I got a lot of bubbles with the filler coat, hopefully it will cut down on air bubbles when I glass the hull. With any luck glass the inside of the hull tomorrow.
Thanks again

Thanks Mtpocket, I have since joined deck and hull and am working on fiberglassing the seam. Slow work though, I ran out of fiberglass and all I have is some 2" wide fiberglass tape. It's working but it has 1 stiched edge on it so I have to cut it off and it is taking some sanding to blend the edges. Not a big deal but I am at the point where I want to get to the water. I have to slow myself down or I will make mistakes.
Thanks again

Thanks Tijos, them are made from Redwood, spruce and walnut. If you go to this earlier post you can see how I did it or go to my web site listed below and see all kinds of pics. http://www.bearmountainboats.com/phpbb2 ... sc&start=0
Ron, are your 1/8" walnut pin strips cove and bead or are they flat edged? If they are flat, then you must have cut off the cove/beads from the mating strips.?
Ed..
Hi Ed, they are flat edge. I kept bead and cove as much as I could but when cutting the design with a jig saw you end up with a straight edge and the pin strip acts as a good smooth line for the next color.
