need a copy of Gilpatricks "Building a strip canoe"
need a copy of Gilpatricks "Building a strip canoe"
I'm still in the research phase of my canoe building project. i've sourced out some decent cedar. I've lofted my plans. I've read canoe craft and feather weight boat building
I am now trying to get my hands on gilpatricks book to see a different approach. I'm sure there is useful info in it.
My problem is the book is out of print and i really do not want to part with a lot of cash for a copy.
Local Library does not carry it. Anyone have a copy they want to sell, scan, copy, or loan?
I am in miami , fl.
thanks for the help, and happy holidays.

Hi Xavier
at the library where I live they have what's called "inter-library loan", which makes it possible for your library to access the books of other nearby libraries. This might be an option for you. If you run into a complete dead end, I have a copy I would be willing to loan you. Gilpatrick's book is OK, and has great info on caining seats, but in my opinion, if you've read and understood Ted Moore's "Canoe Craft", then you should be ready to go for it and build yourself a canoe.
As for your thrifty appraoch to building your first strip canoe, most folks on this site will applaud you. You'll find lots of money saving tips here.
Good luck with your project!

They just e-mailed and said they don't have any copies left. I tried Amazon.... ????? over a hundred bucks for a used copy??? Methinks not.
