Hi
Should I put the center mold centered on the line, or the widest mold centered on the line.
I am building a freedom 17, it is asymmetrical, just thinking forward a bit, I have molds cut out. strong back
build is set for tomorrow. plan is to put 12" top piece on center piece, that will make strong back 17'. will be
making center leg now to get a jump on stopping any sag.
thank you for any input.

mold that goes on center line
Re: mold that goes on center line
Hopefully you have a copy of CanoeCraft to follow, that will help immensely ... the center mold is centered, fore and aft molds get aligned with side nearest center, on the line.

Re: mold that goes on center line
The widest mold has strips touching both edges of the mold, the strips should only touch the edge of the mold
closest to the stem. to get that to happen the widest mold has to be centered on its center line.
You can be right but I will need something to show me more on why.

Re: mold that goes on center line
I would center the widest mold. This would be the center mold on a symmetric design but that is not the general case.
Re: mold that goes on center line
I just checked 3 sets of my plans, they all indicate how the molds are set ...
