Launching
Well, my client finally got the chance to launch her kayak on Monday. She said it is a very sweet boat and that she has never paddled one as good as this one. Her husband said that with just 3 paddle strokes he was up to cruising speed and with 5 strokes he was already sprinting. It is a modified Resolute design. The KajakSport Navigator rudder needs to be modified so it remains vertical in the water but that is a 5 minute job. The launch took place on a lake and next weekend it should be seeing its first salt water trials.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. No, I didn't make that paddle. If I include the 5 foot scale model Resolute that I have partially built so far, that would be my 12th canoe/kayak construction.
Here are a few pics I took in the shop before the kayak left.

Recessed child's cockpit in bow with drainage tubes.

verrrrry interesting!!!!!
Beautiful Boat Glen.
And also a very neat way to make a cockpit cover unless I am way off base
Any pics of the cover in place?
I still have my cutouts from my other boats but they have a conventional cockpit. I often wondered if a lip could be installed to make a weather tight travel cover. Looks like you have done it!!!
PS almost finished mine still waiting for parts

Ludovic, the wood is Western Red Cedar except for a bit of Eastern White Cedar in the hull accent and one deck swoop.
Denis, I am not sure if all the pics are showing, quite often I can't see them all. If you don't see them all let me know and I will have the problem diagnosed. One of the pictures is from head-on of the bow and the front cockpit cover is in place. You can see the knob (where the deck swoops cross) used to hold the cover in place using a modified version of Jay Babina's technique.

Can't find it
Sorry Glen
You have so many posts I can't find the pic you are referring to. I went into projects and you show some of the detail of construction but not the final stages.
:confused
